30th
Anniversary of Islamic Revolution (Iran 1979)
to Be Commemorated in Iran 2009
The Islamic Republic of Iran is all set to celebrate the 30th
anniversary of Islamic Revolution with its traditional fervor. This
occasion marks the return of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini after 15
years of exile, and establishment of the first Islamic Republic
ever, in 1979. After several years of leadership of Iranians from
exile, he ultimately managed to overthrow Shah and open a new
chapter in the world’s politics. The commemoration of this historic
event will take place during ten-day celebration ceremonies, Jan 31
- Feb 10, 2009.
30th Anniversary of Islamic Revolution’s Celebrations
The celebrations will begin at the time the Ayatollah returned home
from exile. Flowers will be showered on the tomb of Ayatollah from a
helicopter circling above. Bells and whistles will accompany the
show. Many sporting events, films, music and theater festivals are
expected to take place during the 10-day celebrations. Revolutionary
themes will be screened on laser shows on each day of the
celebrations.
These shows will be conducted by Tehran Municipality’s Cultural and
Social Department, Tehran Municipality Cultural and Arts
organization, Urban Services Department and Tehran Beautification
Organization. The 30th anniversary celebrations will involve the
historical memory of the city which has played the most important
role in the Islamic Revolution. The 10-day long events will end with
a mass rally and military parade reveling in the fall of the Pahlavi
regime.
Many other events have been lined up as a part of the 30th
anniversary celebrations of Islamic Revolution in Iran. A museum is
expected to open, based on the theme of the Islamic Revolution. A
combination of light, sound and images will recount major events
leading to the Islamic Revolution. Besides this, a huge painting
workshop, featuring 1000 Iranian artists plan to put the
contemporary history of Iran on canvas.
The world’s largest sand Simorgh (a legendary bird in Iranian myths)
will be created using the colorful sands of the island of Hormuz and
unveiled during the 30th anniversary celebrations of Islamic
Revolution. A pact containing a number of unpublished photos on the
same theme by Mahmud Kalari will be released too by the House of
Cinema. This pact also contains 30 documentaries, 30 short films and
30 film music soundtracks of the Islamic Revolution. In this way,
the Islamic Republic of Iran has made all arrangements to make the
celebrations a grand success.
